Ingredients
- 2 ripe avocados
- 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- Tortilla chips, for serving
Start by selecting two ripe avocados. You can tell if an avocado is ripe by gently pressing on it. If it gives slightly, it's ready to eat.
Finely chop 1/2 of a red onion and 1/2 of a jalapeño pepper. Be sure to remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeño to reduce the heat.
Instructions
- Cut the avocados in half and remove the pit. Scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
- Add the chopped onion, jalapeño, cilantro, salt, and lime juice to the bowl.
- Mash the ingredients together with a fork until well combined.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Serve the guacamole immediately with tortilla chips.
