Caramel flan, also known as crème caramel, is a classic dessert that is loved by many. This creamy, custard-like dessert is perfect for any occasion, from family gatherings to romantic dinners. This recipe is easy to follow and will result in a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth flan that will leave your taste buds begging for more.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns into a golden caramel color. Be careful not to burn it.
  3. Quickly pour the caramel into a 9-inch round baking dish, tilting it to coat the bottom and sides. Set aside to cool.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs until they are well combined.
  5. Add the sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and vanilla extract to the bowl and mix until everything is well combined.
  6. Pour the mixture into the caramel-coated dish.
  7. Place the dish into a larger baking pan and fill the larger pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the dish.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set. To check if it's done, insert a toothpick in the center. If it comes out clean, the flan is ready.
  9. Remove the dish from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  10. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the dish to loosen the flan. Invert the dish onto a serving plate and enjoy!
