Indulgent Tiramisu Recipe: The Perfect Italian Dessert

Ingredients:

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pound mascarpone cheese
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 2 tablespoons rum
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until well blended and the mixture is thick and creamy.
  2. Add milk to the egg yolk mixture and stir to combine.
  3. Transfer the egg yolk mixture to a saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  4. In a large bowl, beat the cream with vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  5. Add mascarpone cheese to the cooled egg yolk mixture and stir to combine.
  6. Fold in the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the brewed coffee and rum.
  8. Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture and arrange in a single layer in a 9x13 inch dish.
  9. Spoon half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers and spread it evenly.
  10. Repeat with another layer of ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
  11. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  12. Sift cocoa powder over the top of the tiramisu before serving.
