If you're looking for a healthy and delicious snack or appetizer, try making your own homemade hummus and pita chips! Not only is it easy and affordable, but you can customize the flavor to your liking.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 3 tbsp tahini
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4-6 pita breads
  • Olive oil spray
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Start by adding the chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, cumin, salt, and pepper to a food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as necessary. If the hummus is too thick, you can add a little water or more olive oil to thin it out.

For the pita chips, preheat the oven to 400°F. Cut the pita bread into triangles and arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Spray the pita triangles lightly with olive oil spray and season with salt and pepper to taste. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until crispy and golden brown.

Serve the homemade hummus and pita chips together on a plate or platter. You can garnish the hummus with a drizzle of olive oil, a sprinkle of paprika, or some chopped fresh herbs. Enjoy!
