Ingredients:
- 1 pound spaghetti
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands to form the mixture into 2-inch meatballs.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, sugar, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- Add the meatballs to the skillet and spoon some of the tomato sauce over them. Cover the skillet and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
- While the meatballs are cooking, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente. Drain the spaghetti and add it to the skillet with the meatballs and sauce.
- Toss the spaghetti with the sauce and meatballs until everything is well combined. Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
