Ingredients:
- 1 pound of fresh strawberries, washed and dried
- 8 ounces of high-quality dark chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional)
- Assorted toppings of your choice, such as chopped nuts, sprinkles, or shredded coconut
Start by washing and drying your fresh strawberries. Choose strawberries that are firm, ripe, and have a bright red color. Avoid any that are mushy or have blemishes.
Next, melt your chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl or using a double boiler. If using a microwave, heat the chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted. If the chocolate is too thick, add a tablespoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening to thin it out.
Once the chocolate is melted, dip each strawberry into the chocolate and swirl it around to coat it completely. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing the strawberry onto a sheet of parchment paper. Add your desired toppings while the chocolate is still wet.
Tips:
- For a professional-looking finish, use a fork to dip the strawberries into the chocolate and tap off the excess.
- Experiment with different toppings, such as crushed Oreos, chopped pretzels, or mini chocolate chips.
- Try using white or milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate for a different flavor.
